European Giant in PVC Membranes Starts Production in Izmir

Protan, a major player in the European roofing and tunnel industry, will start manufacturing in Izmir after acquiring the PVC production lines from Izmir-based company BTM. This is Protan’s second Turkish acquisition in three years: In 2019, the company bought Turkish competitor Multiplan and its manufacturing assets in Gebze/Koaceli. The Turkish business has successfully contributed to Protan’s overall growth in the last two years, manufacturing high-quality, durable and sustainable roofing membranes and tunnel membranes. These are sold both domestically in Turkey and exported to Europe and other global markets. BTM has been based in Izmir since 1986 and is a reknown bitumen membrane manufacturer. By combining their knowledge and experience, the two major players will continue to offer innovative solutions and quality products to construction professionals in Turkey and beyond. Protan took over the Kemalpaşa/Izmir PVC production facility in August, and have already started manufacturing there. The company will generate additional employment for its new İzmir operation. Protan will continue to manufacture the same products in İzmir as in Gebze, with the same high-quality standards Protan is globally acknowledged for. Protan is a solid and fast-growing company that manufactures membranes for the building and construction industry. The Norway-based company has 950 global employees and an annual net turnover of €215 million in 2021.
